Yougig Studios began life with a simple mission: to capture real performances as they happened. Originally focused on live recording, the company built its reputation by working closely with musicians, artists, and producers who valued authenticity, energy, and the unmistakable atmosphere of live sound.
Over time, both the industry and the needs of artists evolved and so did Yougig. What started as a mobile, performance-driven recording service has grown into a dedicated studio-based creative space, designed to give musicians the freedom to develop ideas, refine performances, and produce work to the highest professional standard.
Today, Yougig Studios operates from three purpose-built studios located at the unique houseboat moorings in Shoreham-by-Sea. This distinctive setting reflects the spirit of the company itself: creative, independent, and slightly outside the conventional studio environment. The calm waterside location provides a relaxed, inspiring atmosphere where artists can focus fully on making music without the pressures often found in traditional commercial facilities.
At the heart of Yougig Studios is owner and founder Martyn Baker, whose career spans more than 50 years across the music and broadcast industries. Having worked extensively in professional audio and media production, Martyn brings decades of technical knowledge, practical experience, and industry insight to every project. Yougig Studios, however, is more than just another professional venture it is his personal passion project, created to combine lifelong expertise with a genuine love of music and creative collaboration.
That philosophy shapes everything the studio does. Whether recording emerging artists, supporting experienced performers, or helping creators develop new material, Yougig Studios focuses on creating an environment that is welcoming, flexible, and artist-led.
